More than 11 500 migrants and refugees have arrived in Europe so far in 2017 – IOM

A total of 11 515 refugees and migrants had arrived in Europe so far this year, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) said, giving figures as at February 12 2017.

Of this total, 11 308 had arrived by crossing the Mediterranean and the rest had arrived by land.

A total of 258 were dead or missing after trying to cross the Mediterranean to Europe, IOM said.

Between January 30 and February 12, the number of arrivals in Bulgaria was 29.

In order, those arriving in Bulgaria in 2017 had come from Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Pakistan and Iraq, IOM said in a regular weekly update.
