Prague Old Town tree lighting cancelled

Organisers of the annual tree lighting ceremony at Prague’s Old Town Square have announced that the ceremony has been cancelled due to security concerns. The ceremony was to take place November 28 on the opening day of the Christmas market.

The ceremony generally draws thousands of people to the square for an evening of free entertainment.

The move was not due to a specific or credible threat but for a general concern for safety due to the size of the expected crowd.
