Strike causes cancellations of Lufthansa flights at Sofia Airport on November 13
Strike action by the Independent Flight Attendants Organization (UFO) has led to Lufthansa flights to and from Sofia Airport on November 13 being cancelled, among hundreds of the airline’s flights cancelled because of the strike.
Flights to and from Frankfurt and Munich were called off the for the third consecutive day.
The airline said that because of the UFO strike, about 110 900 Lufthansa passengers were affected by 941 flight cancellations on November 13.
The strike is the result of a long-standing dispute between Lufthansa and the union over retirement pay.
“The company will do its utmost to keep the effects of a strike to a minimum and to inform passengers as soon as possible. For that reason, Lufthansa requests all passengers early on to stay up-to-date by checking the flight status on LH.com,” the airline said.
Flights from Lufthansa Group airlines Lufthansa CityLine, Germanwings, Eurowings, Air Dolomiti, Austrian Airlines, SWISS and Brussels Airlines are not affected by the strike actions and will therefore operate as planned.
Lufthansa passengers who have advised their mobile phone number in their customer profile or My Bookings on Lufthansa.com will automatically be informed by SMS about any cancellations, the airline said.
“Lufthansa regrets any inconveniences caused by the strike,” it said.
