Film review: Snow White and the Huntsman

Mirror Mirror, released a few weeks ago, was a brightly colored, strongly lit adaptation of Snow White, and told its story mostly from the point of view of Queen Clementianna. This sweet story’s darker components were all but relegated to the background in order to entertain the viewer with director Tarsem Singh’s fairytale imagery.

Snow White and the Huntsman is a different story all together. Set against a bleak backdrop of revenge and immortality, the film focuses on the friendship of Snow White (Kristen Stewart) and the huntsman whom the evil Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron) has sent to capture her in order to ensure her own immortality as the most beautiful woman in the world.
