A window to a Finnish home
An exhibition entitled Finnish Design Room is being held at the Alma Mater Gallery of Sofia University until June 15.
The exhibition is organised by the embassy of Finland in Sofia and Sofia Design Week to mark Helsinki’s being World Design Capital in 2012 and to illustrate what “Embedding design in life” means.
Finnish Design Room showcases design objects, furniture and fabrics collected from the residence of the Finnish ambassador, Tarja Laitiainen, and Finnish homes inSofia.
It includes the famous Alvar Aalto vase, Fiskars knives and scissors, Hackman cutlery, Iittala glassware, Marimekko fabrics, Vuokko evening dress, Kalevala jewellery and much more to illustrate that design in Finland is present in the lives of each and every person.
