Bulgaria: Dangerous weather warning for July 15 as several cities set for highs of 40°C and above

Bulgaria’s national weather bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather for July 15 for the entire country, with several cities facing maximum temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius or above.

July 15 is the fourth consecutive day that every district in Bulgaria is subject to the Code Orange warning of hazardous weather because of high temperatures.

Previously, from July 9 to 11, the whole country was subject to a Code Yellow warning of potentially hazardous weather because of soaring temperatures.

The forecast high for Sandanski on July 15 is 42 degrees C, with Pleven and Rousse facing 41 deg C and Plovdiv, Vidin, Montana and Yambol 40 deg C.

The forecast high for Blagoevgrad, Kurdzhali, Silistra and Shoumen on Monday is 39 deg C.

Bulgaria’s capital city Sofia is set for a maximum temperature of 37 deg C on July 15, while at the seaside, the forecast high for Bourgas is 35 deg C and Varna 34 deg C.

The weather bureau said that the first days of next week will be sunny and very hot, with maximum temperatures between 37 and 42 deg C.

There will be a short-term increase in cloud cover on the afternoon of July 17, but the chance of rain is low.

On Friday and Saturday, there will be short bursts of rain, accompanied by thunder, and hail is possible. Daytime temperatures will drop by three to four degrees.
