Bulgaria steps up security after Paris terrorist attacks

The level of security at Bulgaria’s airports, sea ports, bus and railway stations as well as distribution centres for post and parcels has been stepped up on the orders of Transport Minister Ivailo Moskovski, the ministry said on January 9.

Staff have been instructed to step up security regarding passengers and cargo, while centres handling shipments must strengthen checks on the contents of packages, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the French embassy in Sofia is to hold a vigil in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack on satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo. The vigil is to be held on January 9 at 6pm in front of the embassy, at 27-29 Oborishte Street.
