Polish officials say Polanski safe in Poland
An adviser to the Polish president Tomasz Nałęcz told TVN 24 broadcaster that it would be highly inappropriate to extradict Polish-born film director Roman Polanski, a “child of the Holocaust”, to US when he came to Warsaw for the opening of a the History of Polish Jews.
He also said that US authorities showed “absolute ignorance” in seeking the arrest of Polanski in such circumstances like opening a museum which highlights Poland’s role as a safe haven for Jews for centuries before the Holocaust.
