Income tax declarations deadline in Bulgaria
Bulgaria’s National Revenue Agency (NRA) issued a reminder, in a statement on April 29, that the deadline for submitting income tax declarations for 2012 is April 20 2013.
While the deadline is the same each year – with the occasional exception when April 30 falls on a weekend or is declared a public holiday – NRA offices usually get swarmed on deadline day as tens of thousands of people file their forms.
The agency warned that those who choose to file their tax declarations at NRA offices should expect lengthy queues.
In addition to the NRA offices, tax declarations can be filed by mail (use of the return receipt service is mandatory in order to certify the mailing date) or online (identity certification requires an electronic signature). Filing the forms online also carries a five per cent discount on any outstanding income tax owed.
Starting this year, a number of professions – including lawyers, public notaries and dentists – as well as any other self-employed individuals and those who receive income from rent, are required to file separate tax forms for that income, Bulgarian television channel bTV reported.
These forms have to be filed three times a year and the deadline for the first filing is April 30, the report said. The forms can be downloaded from the NRA website (in Bulgarian).
