De Niro, Travolta dine with Bulgarian PM Borissov and Culture Minister Rashidov
Bulgarian Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov joined an official working dinner with Hollywood stars Robert De Niro and John Travolta, given by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boiko Borissov, the Culture Ministry said on October 11 2012.
De Niro and Travolta were in Bulgaria to shoot scenes at Nu Boyana studios for the 2013 cinematic release Killing Season.
The talks did not dwell on movies because both De Niro and Travolta were well aware that the Bulgarian culture minister is a prominent sculptor, the ministry said.
De Niro’s parents were painters and he showed Rashidov some photos of his father’s sculptures. Rashidov showed photos of the accounts of the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture and told the two Hollywood stars about Bulgaria’s new museums, the Culture Ministry statement said.
“Because Robert De Niro is very fond of art, and mostly sculptures, Minister Rashidov presented the actor with the documentary film Vezhdi by director Vasil Minchev,” the ministry said.
The two Hollywood stars enjoyed traditional Bulgarian meals – baked peppers, a variation of Shopska salad, as well as a special selection of Bulgarian wines, the statement said.
