EC releases mobile application for travellers

With the coming of the holiday season, the European Commission has released a mobile application for smartphones and tablets, which helps the travellers with information about their passenger rights.

The application offers information about air and rail transport and is expected to include passenger rights in ground and maritime and inland water transport from the beginning of 2013 when they enter into effect. The software, which is free, is developed for the four most popular mobile platforms: Android, Apple iOS, Blackberry and Windows Phone 7.

Besides the information on delays, cancellations, double bookings, lost or damaged luggage, missed connections, re-routings, problems with package holidays, travel agency problems, the application includes contact details of the major airlines and rail operators in Europe.

It is in the 22 languages of the EU and can be found at this location: http://ec.europa.eu/transport/passenger-rights/en/mobile.html
