Poland marks Auschwitz liberation, 71 years on
Polish President Andrzej Duda said in an address at Auschwitz, the former Nazi death camp in southern Poland, where Poland Wednesday marked 71 years since the camp’s liberation by the Soviet Army, that we must do everything to make sure that the horrifying experience that took place there would never happen again.
Auschwitz is not only a museum, not only a massive grave, Duda said. “I would like it to be and I believe it is and will be, in a conscious sense, the presence for the whole world,” the Polish president said.
