Lufthansa strike causes cancellations of flights at Sofia Airport on November 9
The strike by Lufthansa employees, called by trade union UFO in a retirement pay dispute with the airline, has resulted in flight cancellations at Sofia Airport on November 9.
This is the third day that flights at the Bulgarian capital city’s airport have been affected by the industrial action at Lufthansa.
With all-day work stoppages at Frankfurt, Munich and Duesseldorf airports, a total of 929 Lufthansa flights, and 113 000 passengers, are affected.
Cancelled flights at Sofia Airport on November 9 include the 1.15pm flight from Frankfurt (code-sharing with Air Canada, Ethiopian Airlines, Scandinavian Airlines and United Airlines), the 8.15pm flight from Frankfurt (code-sharing with Air Canada, TAP Portugal and United) and the 10.10pm flight from Munich (code-sharing with Luxor, Scandinavian, TAP and United).
Cancelled departures include the 12.55pm flight to Munich (code-sharing with Air Canada, Luxor, Swiss Int, Scandinavian and United) and the 2pm flight to Frankfurt (code-sharing with Air Canada, Ethiopian Airlines, Scandinavian, TAP and United).
