What’s On: Spain’s Cuarteto Casals at Bulgaria Hall on April 8
Renowned Spanish string quartet Cuarteto Casals will perform on April 8 2014 at 7.30pm at Bulgaria Hall in Sofia.
The quartet, based at l’Auditori in Barcelona, is made up of Vera Martinez and Abel Tomas (violin), Jonathan Brown (viola) and Arnau Tomas (cello), all four of whom teach at the Escola Superior de Musica de Catalunya.
The audience in Sofia will hear works by Mozart, György Ligeti and Johannes Brahms.
Unconventionally, the two violinists alternate in the roles of first and second violin.
Cuarteto Casals have played venues including Carnegie Hall, the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Musikverein and for the past three months, have performed more than 20 concerts in prestigious concert halls in Spain, Poland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Luxembourg.
