Flame malware: Hard-drive horror
The recent discovery of the Flame malware is the latest in a series of revelations about malicious software that suggest cyber war is already a reality. In fact, Flame might have been sitting undetected on computer hard-drives for as long as eight years before it was detected, members of the Budapest-based team that helped identify it said this week.
And Flame could be just the tip of the iceberg. “We think that there are tens or hundreds other malwares out there,” Dr Boldiszár Bencsáth told The Budapest Times. Bencsáth is part of a team heading up the Laboratory of Cryptography and Systems Security (CrySys Lab) at Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME).
