Bulgaria’s Unification Day long weekend weather outlook

The weather forecast for Bulgaria’s Unification Day 2026 long weekend is for high temperatures and mainly sunny weather.

In 2026, September 6, Unification Day, is on a Sunday, making Monday September 7 a special public holiday, resulting in a three-day weekend.

The national meteorological bureau said that it will be sunny on September 5. The wind will weaken, in many areas in southern Bulgaria it will subside. Temperatures will rise by 2-3 degrees.

On September 6, an atmospheric disturbance will pass through the country. The skies will briefly be cloudier, but the chance of rain is small, the meteorological bureau said. The northwest wind will strengthen and daytime temperatures will slightly decrease.

At the beginning of next week, for a short while it will be cloudy over eastern Bulgaria and the mountains, and in some places there is a chance for short spells of rain. The wind will weaken and will orient itself from the east.

The maximum temperatures will be slightly lower and the minimum ones will also decrease.

For Bulgaria’s capital city Sofia, the forecast high on September 5 is 32 degrees Celsius, followed by 30 degrees on September 6 and 29 degrees on September 7.

For Plovdiv, the centre of Unification Day celebrations, the forecast high for September 5 is 34 degrees, followed by 36 degrees on Unification Day itself and 31 degrees on September 7.

At the coast, the forecast high for Varna is 31 degrees on Saturday, 30 degrees on Sunday and 27 degrees on Monday, with the weekend beginning with sunny weather, followed by partly cloudy skies on Sunday and Monday.
