Bulgarian Navy team removes drone found on Byala beach
A Bulgarian Navy specialist team removed a drone that was found on the beach of the town of Byala in the Varna district, the Defence Ministry said on May 5.
The team identified the object as a reconnaissance drone, and transported it to the Varna Naval Base, strictly observing safety measures, the ministry said.
This is the latest incident in recent weeks involving drones or drone parts washing up on the Bulgarian seashore.
A specialist team from the Bulgarian Navy base in Bourgas examined and destroyed on May 1 the remains of a drone that washed up on the beach north-east of the Elenite seaside resort complex, a Defence Ministry statement said.
A Bulgarian Navy specialist team on April 17 destroyed a drone that washed up on the beach in the village of Krapets in Shabla municipality, the Defence Ministry said at the time.
A specialist team from the Bulgarian Navy’s Bourgas base removed a drone that had washed ashore on Nessebur’s south beach on April 14, the Defence Ministry said.
On April 12, a Bulgarian Navy team destroyed four shells recovered from a vessel, described by the ministry as a “floating drone”, found on the beach of the town of Sinemorets.
In successive incidents on April 2 and 3, Bulgarian Navy specialist teams removed drone parts and a drone from the Black Sea, according to a Defence Ministry statement.
