Bulgaria’s caretaker government sets up crisis HQ on commodity, food prices resulting from Middle East war
Bulgaria’s caretaker government said on April 1 that it is establishing a crisis headquarters to coordinate the monitoring and control of commodity and fuel prices as a result of the conflict in the Middle East.
The decision was taken at the regular weekly meeting of the caretaker government.
The crisis headquarters will request information on the state and dynamics of commodity and fuel prices as a result of the conflict in the Middle East, as well as on the measures developed to deal with the increase in fuel prices from the interdepartmental working group established by order of caretaker Prime Minister Andrei Gyurov.
The headquarters will propose and take measures related to the control of the increase in commodity and fuel prices, as well as other factors influencing pricing.
The crisis headquarters will be headed by the Prime Minister and will include the Ministers of Finance, Economy and Industry, Energy, Transport and Communications, Agriculture and Food, Regional Development and Public Works, Labor and Social Policy.
In his capacity as head of the crisis headquarters, Gyurov will be able to invite the heads of the National Statistical Institute, the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets, the Commission for Protection of Competition and the Commission for Consumer Protection, as well as the Executive Director of the National Revenue Agency and the Director of the Customs Agency, and if necessary – representatives of other institutions.
The Deputy Prime Ministers may also participate in the meetings, the government information service said.
