Eurostat: Slight decline in EU beer production on annual basis in 2025
In 2025, European Union countries produced 34.4 billion litres of beer, a slight decline of 0.7 per cent compared with 2024, but a 2.2 per cent increase compared with 2020, EU statistics agency Eurostat said on August 31.
Most of the beer produced, 32.3 billion litres, contained more than 0.5 per cent alcohol, while low alcohol (under 0.5 per cent) and non-alcoholic beer accounted for 2.1 billion litres, Eurostat said.
Germany was the EU’s top beer producer in 2025, brewing 7.4 billion litres of beer (21.6 per cent of EU’s sold production).
Spain ranked second (5.3 billion litres; 15.5 per cent), followed by Poland (3.5 billion litres; 10.2 per cent).
The top five list was completed by the Netherlands (2.4 billion litres; 6.9 per cent) and France (2.1 billion litres; six per cent), Eurostat said.
