Bulgaria issues weather warnings for several districts over forecast heavy rain
Bulgaria’s national meteorological bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather for the districts of Kurdzhali and Smolyan, and the lesser Code Yellow warning for several other districts, for January 26 because of forecast heavy rain.
The districts subject to the Code Yellow warning of potentially dangerous weather for January 26 are Vidin, Montana, Pleven, Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Haskovo and Plovdiv.
The remaining districts are classified Code Green for Monday, meaning that no weather warning is in place.
The meteorological bureau said on January 25 that during the night and tomorrow before noon, mainly light rain will fall in the western and central parts of the Danube Plain and icing is possible.
It will remain warm for the end of January with minimum temperatures between 4° and 9° Celsius, maximums between 9° and 14°, lower in Northwestern Bulgaria and the high western fields.
In Sofia, the minimum temperature will be around 2°, maximum 6°-7°.
In the mountains it will be cloudy with rain, with snow at altitudes above 1700 to 1800 metres.
A strong and stormy southerly wind will blow, but during the day it will begin to weaken, and in the evening in the western regions of the country it will orient itself from the northwest and with it cold air will begin to come in.
Maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 metres will be about 8°, at 2000 metres, about 1°.
It will be cloudy along the Black Sea coast. A weak and moderate southeast wind will blow. Maximum temperatures will be 8°-12°.
