Flu epidemic declarations in effect in half of Bulgaria’s districts
The number of districts in Bulgaria where flu epidemic declarations are in effect stands at 14 out of a total of 28, after Pernik became the latest to issue a declaration.
The flu epidemic declaration in the Pernik district is to be in effect from January 30 to February 5.
The measures being introduced are similar to those introduced in the other districts and include the temporary suspension of preventive examinations, mandatory immunizations and re-immunizations, and scheduled consultations of healthy pregnant women and children.
Visits to inpatient medical facilities and specialized institutions for the provision of social services and residential social services for children and adults have also been suspended.
To limit the number of ill people in organized children’s and school groups, an enhanced filter is being implemented to prevent children with clinical symptoms of flu and acute respiratory infections. Enhanced ongoing disinfection is also being carried out.
In Pernik, in-person learning at schools is suspended, as it is in the districts of Vratsa, Haskovo, Plovdiv and Varna.
In Varna, the flu epidemic declaration remains in effect until January 29.
The flu epidemic declarations in the districts of Dobrich and Blagoevgrad are in effect until January 30.
The declarations in Vratsa and Haskovo districts are in effect until January 31.
In Vidin and Pleven districts, the declarations remain in effect until February 2, in Montana, Veliko Turnovo, Gabrovo, Shoumen and Plovdiv, until February 4, and in Kyustendil district, until February 5.
