Bulgaria’s April 2023 elections: Winners and losers

With very close to 100 per cent of the ballots from Bulgaria’s April 2023 parliamentary elections counted, it is possible to sketch the winners and losers – if only in pencil for now.

Because the winners and losers were not finally determined by yesterday’s vote. Much will depend on developments in the weeks and months to come.

It calls to mind Shakespeare’s Scottish play, Act 1, Scene 1: “When the hurly-burly’s done, when the battle’s lost and won”.
