Poland won’t back European Council President Tusk’s bid for re-election

European Council President Donald Tusk cannot count on the support of the Polish government in his run for re-election for the second term of office, governing party Law and Justice (PiS) leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski said during a press briefing on Tuesday.

Kaczyński said that Tusk breaks the fundamental rules of the European Union, the “principles of neutrality” as regards the internal affairs of EU countries. He also said that Tusk openly supports the opposition, which doesn’t hide it would like to to overthrow the government by unconstitutional means”.
