New Galileo satellites in wrong orbit
The first two Galileo Full Operational Capability (FOC) satellites, launched on August 22 from the Guiana Space Centre, have not reached their intended orbits. The satellites were launched as payload on a Russian-made Soyuz rocket.
The European Space Agency (ESA) reported “anomalies [regarding] the orbit injection of the Galileo satellites.”
“The teams of industries and agencies involved in the early operations of the satellites are investigating the potential implications on the mission,” ESA said.
