British embassy in Bulgaria launches Holiday Hangover campaign
The British embassy in Bulgaria launched the Holiday Hangover information and prevention campaign in Slunchev Bryag (Sunny Beach) seaside resort on July 25, targeting British tourists visiting Bulgaria’s Black Sea resorts.
This is the second straight year the campaign is being run by the embassy, with the assistance of local police and other local partners in the resort. It was prompted by increased instances of accidents suffered by British tourists while on holiday in the country.
Despite the continued popularity of organised “bar-crawl” events, the campaign appears to be yielding results, with no such accidents so far this year, Bulgarian National Television (BNT) quoted Slunchev Bryag resort director Zlatko Dimitrov as saying.
One of the main topics targeted by the campaign is to warn British holidaymakers to be careful with their activities on balconies in popular holiday hotspots. Last year, several British tourists died as a result of such incidents, many of which involved young people and alcohol.
