Bulgarian Border Police arrest 33 illegal immigrants, mainly Syrians, in 24 hours

About 33 people had been arrested over the past 24 hours in attempts to cross the Bulgarian-Turkish border, Senior Commissioner Zaharin Panov, Director of the General Directorate of Border Police, said on October 4 2012.
Panov said that the illegal immigrants were detained in four separate cases in the regions of the municipalities of Malko Turnovo, Bolyarovo, and Svilengrad.
“We have four cases in which we foiled attempts to illegal cross the border into Bulgaria from Turkey. Most of the detainees,  22 people, are Syrians,” Panov said, quoted by local news agency Focus.
The cases have been referred to the district prosecutor’s offices.
