Art, classical music and jazz, theatre at Sozopol’s Apollonia Festival 2012

The 2012 Apollonia festival of the arts starts in Bulgaria’s southern Black Sea town of Sozopol on August 30, continuing to September 8.
First held in 1984, the popular festival offers art, live performances of classical music and jazz, theatre and other cultural events.
The 2012 Apollonia festival features, among many other items, an opening night concert on August 31 at 8.30pm by soprano Alexandrina Pendatchanska, with Ludmil Angelov on the piano.
On September 1 at the Amphitheatre Apollonia, the 17-strong Angel Zaberski Big Band Brass Association performs, while the same night, there is a jazz performance by Romania’s Pedro Negresku, the UK’s Steve Hamilton and Bulgaria’s Hristo Yotsov.
