US military to transit Bulgaria in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve

Military personnel and equipment from the US Armed Forces will travel on Bulgaria’s national road network on June 1 and 2 2026, Bulgaria’s Defence Ministry said on May 31.

The transportation of equipment and personnel from Greece to Romania is part of the regional logistical support of the rotation of military formations participating in the US Armed Forces’ Operation Atlantic Resolve, the Defence Ministry said.

In Bulgaria, the convoys will be escorted by Military Police teams.

Operation Atlantic Resolve is a 2014 initiative by the US Army in Europe and Africa which aims to strengthen deterrence and defence capabilities, increase Alliance readiness, and improve interoperability between US forces and allies in Eastern Europe.

“Atlantic Resolve provides rotational deployments of combat-credible forces to Europe to show our commitment to Nato while building readiness, increasing interoperability and enhancing the bonds between ally and partner militaries,” the US Army in Europe and Africa said.

This ongoing operation will actively leverage training on countering threats from unmanned aerial systems and train for future fights in this large-scale combat operations environment on the modern-day battlefield, it said.
