Bulgaria utilities regulator cuts gas prices by 4.3% for December 2025
Bulgaria’s utilities regulator has approved a 4.3 per cent decrease in the regulated gas price in the country for the month of December, setting the new price at 63.01 leva a MWh, or 32.22 euro a MWh, excluding transportation costs, excise and value-added tax.
The price cut follows four straight months of price increases. The price set by the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) for December is also lower than the one in same month of 2024, when the regulator set a price of 75.89 leva a MWh.
The EWRC said that the lower price of gas in December was due to the downward trend in the reference price on the TTF gas hub in the Netherlands, which serves as the main European price benchmark, as well as some consumers reducing the amounts of gas they sought to buy.
The bulk of domestic consumption for December will be covered by gas received under the long-term gas contract with Azerbaijan, liquefied natural gas (LNG) deliveries contracted by state-owned company Bulgargaz, as well as amounts drawn from Bulgaria’s Chiren gas storage facility, EWRC said.
