Bulgaria’s Varna district becomes latest to declare flu epidemic

Bulgaria’s coastal district of Varna has become the latest to issue a flu epidemic declaration, to be in effect from January 23 to 29.

Flu epidemic declarations are in force in Yambol from January 21 to 27, in Plovdiv from January 22 to 28, in Blagoevgrad from January 22 to 30, in Haskovo to January 31 and Vidin to January 26.

Anti-epidemic measures to be in effect in Varna include the suspension of scheduled consultations of healthy pregnant women and infants, scheduled immunisations and re-immunisations, preventive examinations, as well as visits to medical institutions, social services institutions, and residential services for children and adults.

A strict daily filter will be in effect at childcare facilities to prevent the admission of ill children.
