Regional offices of Invest Bulgaria Agency, SME promotion agency to be set up in Plovdiv

Regional offices of the Invest Bulgaria Agency and the Executive Agency for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises are to be set up in Plovdiv, Economy Minister Bozhidar Lukarski said.

Lukarski was speaking after a meeting with Plovdiv mayor Ivan Totev, regional governor Rozalin Petkov and mayors of the region that is part of the Trakiya economic zone.

This would help promote the zone, as well as local businesses and industry, at forums and exhibitions, Lukarski said.

“Our products are good and provide opportunities for investment projects, but we do not advertise and do not market well. If we create here a regional unit of the Bulgarian Investment Agency and the Executive Agency for SMEs, marketing will be better . These units will organise participation in various forums and exhibitions,” Lukarski said.

Trakiya economic zone is one of the largest economic projects in Bulgaria. It brings together the six industrial zones in the region of Plovdiv. More than a billion leva has been invested in the economic zone. The Trakiya economic zone has an area of 10 700 000 sq m, of which 3 250 000 sq m is already occupied.

Since the start in 1995 of the first industrial zone, Maritza, more than 100 investors, 80 of them foreign investors, have been attracted to the zone. This has resulted in the creation of more than 12 000 jobs, according to the Economy Ministry.
