Bulgarian President to hold talks with all parties on ‘urgent tasks’ of outgoing government, parliament, and caretaker cabinet
Bulgarian President Rossen Plevneliev has welcomed the June 27 agreement among political parties on holding early elections on October 5 and will begin consultations with parties represented in the National Assembly and the European Parliament on the urgent tasks for parliament, the cabinet and the caretaker cabinet, his office said.
The consultations will begin on June 29 at 2pm, Plevneliev said.
Plevneliev expressed statement that the parties had adhered to the agreement on June 17 on a timeframe for elections between September 28 and October 12.
The background to that statement is that since the June 17 agreement, reached at a Consultative Council on National Security meeting, some political leaders had spoken of other dates. GERB leader Boiko Borissov had mentioned mid-September.
Plevneliev said that it was only through national dialogue and a responsible approach that a smooth transition to more stability in the country would be ensured.
