European movers association to meet in Sofia
The European association of moving companies Fedemac will hold its next general assembly meeting in Sofia’s Radisson Hotel on October 25-26, the Bulgarian Movers Association said on October 18.
Set up in 1959, Fedemac brings together the national moving associations and acts as the industry’s lobby group, representing about 4000 companies in the moving industry across Europe. In addition to co-ordinating the activities of national moving groups at a European level, much of Fedemac’s work is focused on lobbying at the EU Parliament and Commission, as well as liaising with other industry groups.
At the general assembly in Sofia, the Fedemac board is expected to introduce Dimitrova as the association’s new European Affairs Representative, replacing Tony Richman, the former Fedemac president, who has served as the association’s EU representative since December 2004. For the past six years, Dimitrova has served as senior adviser to Bulgarian MEP Iliana Yotova.
In Bulgaria, the local movers association was set up in March 2011 and registered under Bulgarian law in June 2012. The association currently has 12 members.
