Greek unemployment hits new record at 27.9% in June 2013
With jobless people numbering a total of 1 403 698, Greece hit a new negative record in its unemployment rate in June 2013, reaching 27.9 per cent, while the same percentage last year was at 24.6 per cent, the Greek Statistics Agency (ELSTAT) announced on September 12 2013.
The agency said that the economically inactive, i.e. people who are not working or looking for work, fell by 23 155 people compared with June 2012 (-0.7 per cent) and increased by 14 844 people compared with May 2013 (+0.4 per cent), reaching 3 334 690 people.
