After three months in office, Bulgaria’s Radev Cabinet adopts governance programme

Just more than three months after taking office, Bulgaria’s Roumen Radev Cabinet adopted at a meeting on August 12 its governance programme for 2026 to 2030.

Speaking at the start of the regular weekly Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Radev said that the programme is a “complex of policies” that will implement the intentions of his Progressive Bulgaria political party, expressed in its election platform.

Among them are “de-oligarchisation”, strengthening the law, optimisation of the administration, and caring for the security, health, income and old age of Bulgarians, and opportunities for young people.

“Our goal is to replace the already exhausted development model, based on consumption, distribution and cheap labour, with a new model of accelerated economic development through active attraction of investments, reduction of regulations and support of Bulgarian business; through increased productivity and development of export-oriented high-tech industries,” Radev said.

The Cabinet was on August 12 also to adopt the investment programme for municipal projects.

Radev said that in spite of the debts in the municipalities – “a result of unpaid activities from previous administrations of the country”, the government will provide funds for the development of Bulgarian municipalities.
