Bulgarian Navy team removes drone that washed up on beach in Ahtopol

A Bulgarian Navy team removed a drone on April 16 that had washed up from the sea in the area of the Delfin campsite in Ahtopol, the Defence Ministry said.

The specialist team examined the drone and established that it did not contain explosives and did not constitute a danger, the ministry said.

The team transported the drone to Bourgas naval base, the statement said.

This is the latest drone-related incident in a series recently on Bulgaria’s Black Sea beaches.

A specialist team from the Bulgarian Navy’s Bourgas base removed a drone that had washed ashore on Nessebur’s south beach on April 14, the Defence Ministry said.

On April 12, a Bulgarian Navy team destroyed four shells recovered from a vessel, described by the ministry as a “floating drone”, found on the beach of the town of Sinemorets.

In successive incidents on April 2 and 3, Bulgarian Navy specialist teams removed drone parts and a drone from the Black Sea, according to a Defence Ministry statement.
