Bulgaria issues dangerous weather warnings over forecast high temperatures on August 7
Bulgaria’s national meteorological bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather for several districts for Augut 7 because of forecast high temperatures.
The districts subject to the Code Orange warning are Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Kyustendil, Blagoevgrad, Pleven, Vratsa, Montana and Vidin.
All other districts, with one exception, are subject to the lesser Code Yellow warning of potentially dangerous weather, also because of forecast high temperatures.
The district of Smolyan is classified Code Green, meaning that no warning is in place.
The national meteorological bureau said that August 7 will be sunny, but after noon cumulus clouds will develop, mainly over the western half of the country and north-eastern Bulgaria, and cumulus-rainy clouds.
In some places there will be short-term rain and thunderstorms.
There will be a light to moderate wind from the north-northeast.
Maximum temperatures will be between 32° and 37° Celsius, in Sofia – around 32°.
In the mountains it will be mostly sunny.
After noon cumulus and cumulus-rainy clouds will develop and in places in the massifs of western and central Bulgaria it will rain and thunder. A moderate northeasterly wind will blow.
The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 metres will be about 26°, at 2000 metres – about 18°.
It will be sunny along the Black Sea coast. There will be a light to moderate wind from the east-northeast. Maximum temperatures will be between 29° and 32°. Sea water temperature is 25°-26°C, the meteorological bureau said.
