Bulgaria utilities regulator raises gas prices by 5.8% for July 2026
Bulgaria’s utilities regulator has approved a 5.8 per cent increase in the regulated gas price in the country for the month of July, setting the new price at 37.7 euro a MWh, excluding transportation costs, excise and value-added tax.
The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) said that the regulated price of natural gas in Bulgaria was lower than the reference prices on the TTF gas hub in the Netherlands, which serves as the main European price benchmark, and the Bulgaria’s own Balkan gas hub.
The price EWRC set for July was higher than in the same month of last year (64.55 leva, or 33 euro, a MWh) and June 2024 (58.1 leva, or 29.71 euro, a MWh).
EWRC said that it did not expect Bulgaria’s monthly regulated gas prices to exceed 40 euro a MWh for the remainder of the year, given the decline in oil and natural gas prices after the end of the conflict in the Middle East.
Domestic consumption for July will be covered by gas received under the long-term contract with Azerbaijan, as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG) delivered under previously agreed contracts, the regulator said.
