Eurostat: Retail trade volume in Bulgaria in July 2026 up 5.6% y/y

Bulgaria’s seasonally adjusted retail trade volume in July 2026 was 5.6 per cent higher than in July 2025, European Union statistics agency Eurostat said on September 4.

In 2026, Bulgaria has had consistently high increases in retail trade volume on an annual basis.

According to Eurostat, in January 2026, the figure was 3.9 per cent, in February 7.3 per cent, followed by 12.4 per cent in March, 7.4 per cent in April, 7.9 per cent in May and 7.1 per cent in June.

Eurostat said that among member states for which data are available, the highest annual increases in the total retail trade volume in July 2026 were recorded in Cyprus (8.6 per cent), Latvia (7.1 per cent) and Sweden (6.4 per cent).

Decreases were observed in Romania (-5.7 per cent), Germany (-2.5 per cent), Italy (-1.0 per cent) and Spain (-0.7 per cent).

In July 2026, compared with July 2025, the calendar adjusted retail sales index increased by 0.6 per cent in the euro area and by 1.0 per cent in the EU, Eurostat said.
