Bulgaria’s caretaker PM meets EU, UK, Swiss ambassadors
Bulgaria’s caretaker Prime Minister Andrei Gyurov held a working meeting with the ambassadors of the European Union member states, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, as well as with the head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria, the government information service said on March 5.
During their conversation in the Cabinet building, Gyurov presented the priorities of the caretaker cabinet, the statement said.
Gyurov pointed out the government’s commitment to holding fair elections and emphasized the citizens’ trust in this process.
He said that in its actions on the organisation of the upcoming early vote, to be held on April 19, the caretaker cabinet strictly follows the law.
The goal is for the elections to be held professionally, transparently and according to the rules, he said.
Gyurov also highlighted the government’s responsibility for the stability of the state and ensuring the effective functioning of the executive branch.
He said that on taking office, the cabinet gave a clear mandate to work consistently and purposefully to strengthen the rule of law and increase citizens’ trust in institutions.
Gyurov noted the constructive dialogue and excellent cooperation with European partners.
He expressed thanks for the broad support for Bulgaria in Schengen and the euro zone. Gyurov said that Bulgaria is a reliable and predictable partner in the EU and Nato.
The complicated international situation was also discussed at today’s meeting, the statement said.
Emphasis was placed on the situation in the Middle East. The topic of the war in Ukraine was also discussed, with Gyurov emphasizing Bulgaria’s consistent support for Kyiv.
