Bulgaria utilities regulator raises gas prices by 0.9% for March
Bulgaria’s utilities regulator has approved a 0.9 per cent increase in the regulated gas price in the country for the month of March, setting the new price at 32.6 euro a MWh, excluding transportation costs, excise and value-added tax.
The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) said that it was able to keep the price hike below one per cent due to a decrease in demand from large consumers of gas.
Despite the price increase compared to February, the regulator said that the March 2026 price was about 27 per cent lower than in the same month of last year, when EWRC approved a price of 44.78 euro a MWh.
Domestic gas demand for March would be covered entirely by gas shipped via Greece under the long-term supply agreement with Azerbaijan, liquefied natural gas deliveries contracted by state-owned gas company Bulgargaz, and gas pumped from the Chiren storage facility, EWRC said.
