Meteorological bureau: Bulgaria’s 2025 was country’s latest warm year since 21st century began

The year 2025 was the country’s latest warm year since the 21st century began, with an average temperature for the country about 1.2 degrees Celsius (°C) above climate norms, the national meteorological bureau said in a report posted on its website.

The year was as warm as 2019, and about 0.8 °C colder than the record year 2024.

It is characterised by a hot summer, the third warmest after the summers of 2024 and 2012, since 1930.

In winter, spring and autumn, average seasonal temperatures were also above climate norms, but with significantly smaller positive deviations.

The months with average air temperatures below climate norms for 2025 are February (minus 2.4 °C below the norm), April (minus 0.3 °C), May (minus 1.0 °C) and October (minus 1.1 °C).

Summer 2025 was the driest since 1930, while all other seasons had average precipitation for the country above the climatic norms.
