Poll finds business sentiment in Bulgaria gloomier
A regular monthly poll by the National Statistical Institute (NSI), the results of which were released on December 30, has found a downturn in business sentiment in Bulgaria in December 2025, with the indicator dropping by 3.1 percentage points.
Previous polls found an improvement in September, followed by downturn in October and unchanged in November.
The NSI said that the indicators were down in all sectors surveyed – industry, construction, retail trade and services.
The largest drop was in the retail trade, by 5.2 percentage points, with managers more moderate in their views and expectations about the business situation, while their forecasts about the volume of sales and the orders placed with suppliers over the next three months were also more negative.
In the industry sector, the indicator was down by 2.1 percentage points, with managers unfavourable in their views and expectations about the business situation.
In the construction sector, the indicator was down by 2.3 percentage points, with managers reserved about the business situation, though their expectations about the business situation over the next six months and construction activity over the next three months had become more positive.
In the service sector, the indicator was down by 3.9 percentage points, with managers negative about the business situation, while their opinions about demand for services over the next three months were unfavourable.
