Market Links poll sees seven-group Parliament
Close to two months after Bulgaria’s latest early parliamentary elections, a Market Links poll – the results of which were released on December 23 – has found that were elections held now, a similar Parliament would be produced.
The results of the poll show a seven-group, rather than eight-group, Parliament.
In first place is Boiko Borissov’s centre-right GERB-UDF coalition, with 23.1 per cent support among those who would vote, followed by the reformist We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria coalition, 12.9 per cent, in turn followed closely by pro-Russian party Vuzrazhdane, 11.8 per cent.
In fourth place is Magnitsky Act-sanctioned Delyan Peevski’s Movement for Rights and Freedoms – New Beginning, 10.5 per cent, followed by the Bulgarian Socialist Party – United Left coalition, 6.5 per cent, the Ahmed Dogan loyalists the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms, 5.7 per cent, and populist party ITN, four per cent.
The 51st National Assembly, elected on October 27, has an approval rating of a mere six per cent.
The politician with the highest rating is head of state President Roumen Radev, with an approval rating of 51 per cent, the only political figure whose approval rating exceeds his disapproval rating.
In second place is the Speaker of the National Assembly, Natalia Kiselova, who has an approval rating of 28 per cent. In third place is Borissov, who has an approval rating of 22 per cent.
Vuzrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov and caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev each have an approval rating of 18 per cent.
Peevski has an approval rating of eight per cent and Dzhevdet Chakurov, the parliamentary leader of the Dogan loyalists, nine per cent.
Market Links’s Dobromir Zhivkov told bTV that Peevski had managed to improve his approval rating.
“When we started measuring trust in Delyan Peevski a little over a year ago, it was around two to four per cent – very low,” Zhivkov said.
The data are from a national survey, funded and implemented jointly by bTV and Market Links, conducted among 1007 people over 18 in the country in the period December 12-20 2024, using the methods of direct personal interviews and an online survey.
