Bulgaria’s October 2024 elections: CEC announces polling stations abroad
Bulgaria’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has announced its decision on polling stations abroad for the country’s early parliamentary elections to be held on October 27.
As usual, the largest number of polling stations in a foreign country for a Bulgarian election is in Türkiye, a total of 168.
This is followed by the United Kingdom, 112, Germany, 66, and Spain, 64.
Among Bulgaria’s neighbouring countries – apart from Türkiye, there will be 23 polling stations in Greece, four in Serbia, two in North Macedonia and one in Romania, at the embassy in Bucharest.
Further afield, there will be 53 polling stations in the United States, 15 in Canada, five in Australia, three in South Africa, two in China, two in Russia and one in New Zealand.
In its decision, the CEC said that Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry had recommended that polling stations not be opened in Tel Aviv in Israel and in Beirut in Lebanon because of the deteriorating security situation there.
The full list of polling stations may be found, in Bulgarian, on the website of the CEC.
