Bulgaria utilities regulator raises gas prices by 2.9% for October 2024
Bulgaria’s utilities regulator has approved a 2.9 per cent increase in the regulated gas price in the country for the month of October, setting the new price at 63.72 leva a MWh, excluding transportation costs, excise and value-added tax.
Despite the small price hike, the third in as many months, the regulator said that the price for October was still about 10 leva a MWh below the reference price on the TTF gas hub in the Netherlands, which serves as the main European price benchmark, in recent days.
The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) said that the bulk of domestic consumption for October will be covered by gas received under the long-term gas contract with Azerbaijan, which will cover about 70.8 per cent of demand for the coming month.
Additionally, state-owned gas company Bulgargaz has contracted two liquefied natural gas (LNG) deliveries that will cover part of the demand, as will and quantities drawn out from the country’s Chiren gas storage, EWRC said.
