Bulgaria’s capital Sofia to host second Big Table event in Oborishte district
For a second time, Bulgarian capital city Sofia’s Oborishte district is host a The Big Table event – featuring a table 120 metres long – on September 21.
The event, starting at 11am, will be held in the section of Oborishte Street between Assen Zlatarov and Vassil Aprilov streets.
The organisers say that they are preparing a table around which neighbours and small businesses from the neighbourhood will share food and jolly emotions with artists and members of the public of all ages.
A highlight of the event is the large table for children, while foreign embassies in the Oborishte neighbourhood have been invited to bring samples of their national cuisines.
The second event is also part of the European Mobility Week and the day before International Car Free Day, freeing the street from cars from 11am to 10pm to create more space for different activities for people.
Oborishte Street will be filled with thematic decoration and lighting, various stalls with food and drink, a programme of creative workshops, games for children and adults, exhibitions and performances by Sofia street musicians and guest stars in the music programme.
Entrance to the The Big Table and all activities in the day’s programme is free.
The event organisers are asking all attendees to be responsible and bring and share food made from fresh or perishable produce.
