Bulgarian railways’ vintage narrow-gauge train to run in August, alongside Bansko Jazz Fest
Bulgarian state railways BDZ is offer trips on a vintage narrow-gauge train from August 3 to 10.
The trips coincide with the 2024 Bansko Jazz Fest, being held daily on the same dates.
The train will be made up of three vintage passenger carriages, a buffet carriage and a guards van, pulled by a diesel engine.
One of the vintage carriages dates from 1926, one from 1941 and the “newest” carriage dates from the first half of the 1970s.
The train will depart from Dobrinishte station at 9am, in Bansko at 9.15am, in Razlog at 9.30am, in the village of Banya at 9.43am, Yakorudsksa Mineralna Banya 10.34am and Yakoruda station 10.41am.
On the return journey, the train will depart from Yakoruda at 2.40pm, arriving in Razlog, Bansko and Dobrinishte, respectively, between 4pm and 4.30pm.
Tickets, with a reserved seat, are:
40 leva for a return ticket on the Dobrinishte – Yakoruda – Dobrinishte and Bansko – Yakoruda – Bansko route;
20 leva one-way ticket on the Dobrinishte – Yakoruda – Dobrinishte and Bansko – Yakoruda – Bansko routes;
35 leva for a return ticket on the Razlog – Yakoruda – Razlog route; and
20 leva for a one-day ticket on the Razlog – Yakoruda and Yakoruda – Razlog route.
For children up to the age of 10, there is a half-price discount on the ticket price.
Tickets may be purchased online at https://bileti.bdz.bg/ and from ticket offices and railway desks in all stations in the country, as well as from staff on the trains, BDZ said.
