Lorry carrying migrants unlawfully in the country crashes in Bulgaria

A lorry carrying 21 migrants unlawfully in the country crashed on Bulgaria’s Trakiya Motorway, resulting in many of the people being treated in hospital.

The press office of the Bourgas police said that on July 23, the Sofia-registered lorry hit a barrier between two lanes and overturned.

When traffic police got to the scene, the driver had fled, but in the cargo container, 21 people were found. The group said that they were from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.

Six were admitted for treatment in Yambol hospital with multiple injuries and 15 were examined in Sliven hospital and subsequently handed over to authorities in Karnobat.
