Soaring temperatures prompt hazardous weather warning in 11 Bulgarian regions
A “Code Orange” hazardous weather warning has been issued for 11 regions in Bulgaria for June 18 2016.
The 11 regions are Blagoevgrad, Gabrovo, Haskovo, Lovech, Pleven, Plovdiv, Rousse, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Veliko Turnovo and Yambol.
In Haskovo, Lovech and Rousse, temperatures on June 18 are expected to reach 37 degrees Celsius.
Blagoevgrad, Pleven, Veliko Turnovo and Yambol face forecast highs of 36 degrees.
A daytime high of 33 degrees is forecast for Gabrovo, 35 degrees for Plovdiv, and 33 degrees for Sliven.
For all other regions in Bulgaria, including the capital city Sofia, the lesser “Code Yellow” potentially hazardous weather warning has been issued. Sofia is expected to see a maximum high of 35 degrees on Saturday, with thunderstorms. Thunderstorms are also forecast for the capital on June 19, when temperatures are expected to reach 33 degrees.
Countrywide, the average temperatures across Bulgaria on June 18 are forecast to range from a minimum 21 degrees Celsius to a maximum 36 degrees.
